Diversity Resources

AFP Washington serves as a resource in your efforts to bring diversity to your organization. As the Pacific Northwest becomes increasingly diverse, your organization's ability to adapt and reflect the new and emerging needs of our community's shifting demography is essential to your success. We have compiled a variety of diversity resources including books, films, essays, and training guides to assist you.

    Why Focus on Diversity?

American demographics are rapidly changing with significant implications for fundraisers. Census figures show that minority groups, including blacks, Hispanics, Asians and Native Americans, now represent one-third of the population. These groups are growing in numbers and influence, and today account for some $1.2 trillion in buying power, and potential charitable giving.

Moving toward greater diversity acknowledges not only a commitment to fairness and equality, but also an effort to mirror the changing look and feel of our communities. Check the links below to learn more about how and why to make diversity part of your organization's mission.
