Bi-monthly Martini Mondays are after-hours gatherings open to AFP members and non-members alike. They are great opportunities to network and have a stimulating conversation! Each session is introduced to a current topic by a guest speaker, followed by discussions in small groups. To close the evening, we'll come back together as a full group and share some key points. Drink specials will be offered at the no-host bar. No registration required, and no registration fee- just come ready to engage!
Our August topic is The Future of Development: How Will Our Profession Change … and What Does it Mean for You? The topic will be presented by Lee Heck, the Associate Vice President for Individual Giving Programs at the University of Washington where he has worked for the last ten years. He was a part of the University’s very successful Campaign UW: Creating Futures. He also has a range of experience in small, mid-range and large organizations in the Health and Human Services sector, including the Northwest AIDS Foundation. A long-time member of AFP,CASE and past President of the Northwest Development Officers’ Association, Lee continues to have a passion for our sector, for the non-profit organizations and their critical missions and for the people who make it all happen.
In relation to this topic, attendees will discuss questions such as:
1) During your time working in this profession, what has been the single biggest change?
2) What factors will be the most critical ones in the next five years that will help set the direction for the fundraising/non-profit sector and what opportunities do they present?
3) In light of changes you have discussed, what strategies should we consider both for the organizations we work for and for our own careers?
This timely and forward-looking session will continue the Martini Monday’s goal of bringing together knowledgeable peers for a meaningful conversation in an informal, after-hours environment.
(To facilitate discussion, we're going to start on time, so please arrive as promptly as possible.)
