Development & Communications Coordinator
The Alexander Hamilton Friends Association is seeking qualified candidates for a Development and Communications Coordinator role. This position is offered at 20 hours a week with the potential to grow to 40 hours a week in the future.
Principle Responsibilities: • Advance the cultivation and stewardship efforts of the Executive Director, Founder & Senior Director and Board of Directors by providing administrative support. Assist with scheduling and tracking donor communications and appointments. • Coordinate production, updates and printing of organization branded collateral. • Coordinate production and regular distribution of monthly eNews. • Support Executive Director and Grant Writer in tracking of grant prospects and deadlines as well as generating grant reports/program evaluation summaries. • Draft small communications pieces – including press releases – as needed or required. • Manage the organization’s database, including processing/tracking gifts and volunteer hours, prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence, generating queries, and pulling lists and reports. Update constituent information with care and accuracy. • Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files. • Create monthly fundraising, website and e-news reports and other database reports as needed. • Maintain and update organization website. • Coordinate production and mailing of appeal letters, annual report and other large scale correspondence/publications. • Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials and other duties as assigned for events. • Coordinate details associated with Hamilton Friends Committee Meetings and Board Meetings (i.e. prepare and distribute notices, manage RSVPs, agendas, minutes, etc.). • Assemble information packets for events and meetings. • Manage business operations and ensures administrative health of AHFA - coordinate information systems, including website, computer networks, telephone systems, and other major office communications systems. • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
In the short term: Support student information tracking, book student travel/logistics, and manage external communication regarding upcoming Program Director hiring process.
Qualifications and Required Background: • A minimum of three years' experience in an administrative position, preferably in a not-for-profit development office • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Database management experience – SalesForce – is a plus • Experience updating web content • Excellent verbal and written communications skills • Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing • Ability to organize and prioritize work, and work within deadlines • Ability to work independently with little supervision and be a self-starter • Excellent interpersonal skills
Desired attributes: Previous experience in a small nonprofit organization; a problem solver with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines; excellent communication skills via phone, e-mail, and in person; excellent writing skills; capacity to be flexible; desire to learn; sense of humor; detail oriented and utterly dependable. Individual Giving Associate
Seattle Opera is accepting applications for the position of Individual Giving Associate. This full-time, salaried position reports to the Associate Director of Development, Individual Giving.
Scope and Principal Accountabilities: This position is responsible for cultivation of individual gift prospects; solicitation and stewardship of individual donors above $1,000; providing staff support to the Individual Giving Committee of the Board of Trustees; and administrative support to the Director of Development and Associate Director of Development, Individual Giving. This position is tasked to: - Identify new prospects and existing donors with upgrade potential, develop effective strategies for solicitation, and solicit accordingly. - Collaborate with Annual Fund staff to create personalized solicitation and renewal letters. - Steward relationships with donors above $1,000, including providing ticket concierge service as needed. - Verify individual donor lists in performance programs, signage, sponsorship lists, and other donor recognition venues. - Maintain and organize individual donor files. - Produce relevant and effective Individual Giving solicitation lists and reports in Tessitura. - Ensure accurate fulfillment of benefits to all individual donors. - Work Development events (e.g. donor lounge, galas, dinners and receptions) to cultivate prospects and steward donor relationships as required. - Provide Prospect Research support to Development colleagues, Executive staff and Board of Trustees as needed. - Participate in appropriate professional organizations as approved. - Perform other duties as assigned and needed to successfully achieve Development goals.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. - Minimum of 2 years work in Development or related field. - Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Donor communication experience preferred. - Knowledge of Tessitura and/or experience with donor management systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Scope: Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Development and Advancement is responsible for leading and managing the agency’s resource development, advancement, communications and volunteer programs. Along with the Executive Director, this position will engage donors, funders and stakeholders in the strategic advancement of the agency. The Director of Development and Advancement manages a motivated team which includes the Development Manager, Advancement Manager, Major Gifts Manager, Communications Specialist/Voice Editor and Volunteer Coordinator. The Director is responsible for all fundraising efforts of the organization including annual fund, major donors, institutional donors (corporations, foundations and organizations), third party funders, United Way and all public grant opportunities. The Director of Development and Advancement will expand the agency’s well established relationships with funders and design new programs for individual donors, endowment and planned giving.

Responsibilities:
Advancement Develop strategies to anticipate future trends and articulate agency vision to secure innovative and appropriate funding. Attend political and community events as a representative of the agency and make presentations as appropriate. Team with Program Directors to seek out significant private and public funding opportunities and write competitive applications to support current programs, expand services, and improve the quality of all agency programs. Provide direction and feedback on new initiatives being explored or implemented to reflect the interests of external stakeholders and to ensure long-term sustainability.
Communication Actively foster positive public relations by overseeing effective agency promotional materials including annual reports, brochures, visual displays, donor publications, website and the Voice newspaper. Build strong partnerships within the community, and develop positive and respectful relationships with residents and community leaders, and model exemplary service. Incorporate communication best practices related to social media, on-line tools and evolving print media in order to support on-going fundraising activities.
Development Continue to build a Culture of Philanthropy at all levels of the organization. Design, implement and manage an annual resource development plan that includes direct mail, major gifts campaign, annual breakfast event, annual open house/donor recognition, corporate sponsorship, grant writing, individual solicitations, board giving, and United Way. Plan and launch an endowment campaign to support place based strategies. Develop and monitor development department budgets (resource development, communications/media relations, special projects, etc.) Support the Board of Trustees by staffing the Resource and Development Committee.
Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS in applicable field. A minimum of five years successful experience in fundraising, including capital campaigns, endowment campaigns, annual membership campaigns, planned giving, and proposal/grant writing. Alternative combinations of education and experience that yield the same degree of professional and managerial competence may be substituted.

Major Gifts Officer
• Solicit gifts from major donors. Thank donors in thoughtful, creative ways. Develop individualized cultivation plans for all donors in portfolio. • Implement a moves management process for individual donors, setting up appropriate cultivation steps and acknowledgments. • Work with the Finance Department to ensure gifts are properly accounted for. • Oversee Planned Giving Program, including cultivating and soliciting prospects. • Provide regular reports of cultivation activities and solicitations to Executive Director. • Document major gift donor and prospect contacts in the donor database in accordance with established procedures. • Support organization’s efforts toward a capital campaign, including communications with and cultivation of major donors. • Adhere to the highest ethical standards, reflect optimistic and positive attitude and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required 1. Proven ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals. Demonstrates interest in building positive and authentic relationships. Experience researching, cultivating and stewarding individual and corporate donors, including major donors. 2. Expertise in fundraising and donor relations strategies and best practices, including leveraging social media. 3. Solid relationships with local businesses and community leaders, ideally in East King County. 4. Expertise in current trends in charitable giving in the area of major gifts. 5. Experience with communications, marketing, and/or public relations preferred. 6. Experience utilizing donor management software. 7. Experience with not-for-profit Boards preferred. 8. Experience in budgeting, developing work plans, and monitoring progress. 9. Proven skill in exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. 10. Minimum Requirements 1. BA/BS degree. 2. A minimum of 3 years experience in professional fundraising ($500,000 and above). 3. A proven track record in securing large donations ($5,000 plus) and increasing existing donor contributions. 4. Competent technology skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc). 5. Experience with donor databases. 6. Certified Fundraising Executives (CFRE) with a social services or housing background preferred. 7. Valid WA driver’s license, reliable vehicle and valid auto insurance. 8. Work Schedule The Major Gifts Officer position is a full time (40 hours per week), hourly, non-exempt position. Hours worked will be weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m, or at a mutually agreed-upon schedule. Overtime, evening and/or weekend work may also be required. Regular daily (work week) presence is required.

LAW Fund and the Endowment for Equal Justice (EEJ) seek a creative, strategic, highly experienced development professional with a strong commitment to access to justice to serve as their next Director. LAW Fund, located in Seattle, is a statewide, collaborative resource development organization that raises private funds for over 20 non-profits that provide civil legal aid to low-income people. The Endowment for Equal Justice is charged with ensuring that civil legal aid will be available for vulnerable Washingtonians in perpetuity. The members of the Boards of Directors of these organizations, leaders in Washington’s legal and business communities, are deeply committed to access to justice, are involved actively in the resource development work of LAW Fund and EEJ, and are very supportive of the professional staff. LAW Fund and EEJ are hosted and managed by the Legal Foundation of Washington (LFW), which generates additional financial resources through its Interest on Lawyer Trust Account (IOLTA) program and is responsible for the distribution of the funds raised.
The new Director will join a team of dedicated resource development and grant-making professionals who work hard, share a passion, and have fun while seeking to improve access to justice for vulnerable people. Washington’s statewide, collaborative resource development model, initiated in 2003, is proving to be very successful. The annual Campaign for Equal Justice, which raises funds primarily from individual attorneys, judges, and law firms, has increased revenues by over 125% over the past six years; major gifts from individuals and foundations, as well as planned gifts also are received. The Role SVPI is seeking a Fund Development Director. This is a new position and will be an integral part of the small SVPI team. He or she will contribute significantly to planning, strategy and operational goals of SVPI and will be responsible for the smooth operation and execution of SVPI’s fund development efforts. The Fund Director will be responsible for raising $350,000 to $400,000, increasing in subsequent years.

Key Tasks: The Fund Development Director will be responsible, with SVPI’s CEO and board, for the development and implementation of a comprehensive fund development strategy. As part of this effort, he or she will: • In alignment with SVPI’s Strategic Plan and annual work plan, set and meet annual goals for individual gifts, corporate sponsorship and foundation grants; track progress and produce reports for board members and staff team • Plan and lead key major donor and prospect identification, stewardship, communication, cultivation, solicitation, and recognition • Build relationships with donors in support of SVPI’s strategic plan. • Develop corporate and foundation cultivation strategies write grants and prepare sponsorship packages. • Identify and cultivate new donors, with assistance from key staff and board members • Maintain donor records • Serve as lead staff member to SVPI’s board Fund Development Committee • Attend BOD meetings and train and support SVPI board members and staff as appropriate • Work with SVPI’s Director of Communications to increase visibility of SVPI with current and prospective donors • Other duties as directed
Qualifications include: • Bachelor’s degree • Substantial experience in fund development – preferably 5+ years • Experience in working with major donors – preferably 3+ years • Proven success in developing and executing development strategies • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills including experience working with high profile boards and volunteers. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent project management and organizational skills • Excellent relationship building skills • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team • Experience with Salesforce or other donor databases. • Knowledge of Social Venture Partners a plus • Ability to travel 3-5 times per year

Development Director

Development Coordinator
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Coordinator will plan and execute a comprehensive fundraising program for the organization with strategic focus on individuals and private sector resources. In addition, the Development Coordinator will manage grant proposals and reporting/evaluation for public sector resources as requested. He/she will be a member of the organization’s management team. BACKGROUND: Founded in 1980, Cares of Washington is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities and those with low incomes increase their self sufficiency and economic empowerment through employment. Cares provides long term, individualized services for clients and partners with a wide variety of community based organizations, government agencies and employers in five counties. Cares is currently undertaking a number of capacity building projects to raise the organization’s profile and diversify revenue to reduce the organization’s dependence on public funding sources. Projects include the development and implementation of the organization’s first strategic communications and fundraising plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the organization’s past and present fundraising activities; 2. Develop a two-year strategic plan for private sector fundraising with specific revenue goals; 3. Review and develop next-generation communications tools and strategies to tell the Care’s story effectively to internal and external stakeholders; 4. Identify key fundraising targets and prospects from among: individuals; small and family foundations; professionally-staffed foundations; corporations; service organizations and associations; special events; and other sources. 5. Establish donor management system; effectively track prospects and contributions; generate reports. 6. Develop, lead and manage all aspects of targeted solicitation strategies for key prospects. 7. Experience working with national grantmakers and federal government funding sources preferred. • Demonstrate high level of skill in researching and qualifying prospective funders • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or similar donor databases. • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills; able to meet multiple and competing deadlines. • Excellent oral and written communications skills. • Ability to interface with funders on the phone and in person. • Ability to problem-solve and take limited direction on tasks; strong analytical skills. • Ability to work with staff members to fulfill fund development information needs.
Language proficiency required/preferred: English language proficiency is required.

Development Officer - Major Gifts
Under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Development, obtains funds by cultivating and soliciting PPGNW's major donors and prospects in Washington. Oversees and manages the Major Gift campaign in the state, and incorporates those functions into the overall operations of the agency.
Essential Functions: Maintains and actively grows a portfolio of major donors; communicates personally with donors about areas of interest and PPGNW's case for support; solicits gifts from major donors; and thanks donors in thoughtful, creative ways; develops individualized cultivation plans for all donors in portfolio, works with other development team members to actively move donors up into this major donor portfolio, and identifies and cultivates other prospective networks/groups in Washington.
Major Responsibilities: Develops strategies to ensure the effective and timely cultivation and solicitation of major gifts (with some planned giving activity). Conducts approximately 100 face-to-face major donor/prospect visits each year. Keeps top prospects informed, interested, and involved. Solicits current and prospective major donors. Prepares written materials, including volunteer correspondence and major donor proposals. Works cooperatively and collaboratively with regional volunteers and staff. Utilizes senior staff and board members or other volunteers in major donor activities as appropriate, including assigning thank-you calls and preparing talking points on PP news. Provides Director of Development with moves management and solicitation reports. Conducts prospect research as needed. Manages corporate giving program, focusing on growing corporate giving of vendors and key supporters who own or have leadership positions at businesses. Serves as effective spokesperson of PPGNW by establishing knowledge on current local and national issues related to PPGNW's mission. Works with Database Coordinator to ensure accurate donor records and gift acknowledgement procedures. Coordinates and organizes special stewardship events by identifying potential guests; developing announcements and invitations; making and coordinating arrangements; preparing talking points for speakers; and supervising activities. Attends some workplace giving events to represent PPGNW. Manages Washington branch of volunteers in the Board of Advocates; actively grows group to strengthen representation of key constituencies; helps plan quarterly webinars for the BOA; staffs in-person meetings. Maintains job knowledge by attending meetings and trainings as required. Assumes other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Development.

Foundation and Government Giving Manager
This full-time, salaried position reports to the Director of Development, and leads the Foundation and Government Giving activities including the research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of foundation and government prospects/donors and the fulfillment of their donor benefits.
Scope and Principal Accountabilities The Foundation and Government Giving Manager is responsible for creating, developing, and implementing the Seattle Opera's Foundation and Government Giving strategies and related materials to meet the funding needs of the company, collaborating with trustees, Seattle Opera staff members and external contacts including foundation program officers and government officials. This position is tasked to: - Develop and implement strategy for foundation and government giving, utilizing best practices garnered from a comparative review of foundation giving programs of local and national arts organizations, focusing on new and increased gifts, and utilizing Board Trustees, General Director, Executive Director, Director of Development, all development staff, and other Seattle Opera colleagues as needed. - Create and cultivate relationships with foundation and government program officers and Seattle Opera ticket buyers and donors who have established family foundations or are trustees of family foundations, serving as ticket concierge when appropriate. - Research giving history of past, current and prospective foundation and government donors. - Compose grant proposals for general operating support, education and community engagement programs, Young Artists Program underwriting, and special event support to foundation and government funders. - Prepare all written foundation and government giving communications including grant reports and benefit fulfillment correspondence. - Recommend potential new board members and attend board meetings as needed. - Lead efforts to preserve foundation and government donor data in Tessitura and produce relevant, timely and effective reports in collaboration with the Associate Director of Development - Operations and Annual Fund Manager in order to fully assess donors' complete giving profiles. - Develop revenue and expense foundation and government giving goals in collaboration with the Associate Director of Development - Operations and provide foundation and government giving daily, weekly and monthly forecasts. - Interface with all company departments, to identify prospective programs/projects in need of funding and to ensure that sponsorship recognition/visibility is accurate and appropriate. - Work development department events, including donor lounge dinners and receptions, to cultivate prospect and steward donor relationships. - Attend non-development events where designated foundation and government funders and community leader stakeholders are represented in an effort to enhance external relations and serve donors in an ambassador/advocacy/facilitator role. - Support all other departmental activities and events. - Attend community events/meetings pertaining to Seattle Opera as requested and appropriate. - Participate in related professional organizations as approved. - Perform other duties as assigned and needed to successfully achieve development department goals.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree, preferably in the field of performing arts or non-profit management. - Minimum of 5 years work in development with increasing responsibilities and demonstrated fundraising success. - Donor communications experience strongly preferred. - Proven success in creating and executing work plans. - Knowledge of and experience with Tessitura and proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
