Ray Li serves as the Director of Development for Neighborhood House - a local non-profit multi-service center serving low-income, refugee and immigrant communities throughout Seattle and King County. Previously, Ray served as the Assistant Director of Development for the Greater Hartford Chapter of the American Red Cross. Ray holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Non-Profit Leadership from Seattle University. In his spare time, Ray enjoys the great outdoors and cooking. In the rest of his spare time, he provides service on the boards of Northwest Development Officers Association, where he completed a term as president in 2005; Asian Pacific Islander Community Leadership Foundation and the Seattle University MNPL Visiting Committee.

Andrea is the Fund Development and Communications Officer for Impact Capital, a Washington state community and economic development financial intermediary. Prior to that, she ran Andrea John-Smith Consulting, providing fundraising, marketing and strategic business counsel to nonprofit organizations in Seattle. Prior to this, she served as the Director of Community Campaigns at the United Way of King County where she was responsible for workplace campaigns which generated more than $65 million in designated and unrestricted contributions annually. At the Salvation Army’s Northwest Divisional Headquarters, she served as Capital Campaign Manager and Director of Volunteers. Ms John-Smith’s first fundraising position in Washington State was with the Cascade Center for Public Service, at the University of Washington’s Graduate School of Public Affairs. As the project manager for a major public policy and management on-line service, she was responsible for grant requests and reporting. A strong community development advocate, Ms. John-Smith served as the revitalization consultant to Columbia City Revitalization Committee, and remains an active volunteer in the Rainier Valley to this day. A graduate of University of California at Berkeley, Ms. John-Smith majored in Humanities with an emphasis in music and rhetoric. After graduation, she spent most of her twenties as a working jazz vocalist until moving with her husband to Seattle in 1992.

Thea Kleiber is the Director of Development for Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham, Washington. She recently relocated to Whatcom County from Seattle, where she was executive director of The American String Project, a Seattle-based chamber orchestra. She has also held key fundraising positions with Seattle Symphony Orchestra and Cascadia Revolving Fund, a nationally prominent community development organization. Ms. Kleiber earned her CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) credential in 2002, and holds a Bachelors of Law (LL.B.) from the University of London in the United Kingdom.

Alex Wang is a recent transplant to Seattle and is an associate at Pyramid Communications. Prior to joining Pyramid, Alex managed development publications and branding for San Francisco-based environmental group ForestEthics. Before then, he wrote grants for underserved, rural elementary schools in Central California. Alex earned his bachelor's degree in psychology and ethnic studies from the University of California at Berkeley, and after graduating worked in Hollywood and Shanghai, both of which he considers foreign cities.

JoAnn’s fundraising career began in 1977 and has spanned health care, youth development, public land preservation, environment, ethnic heritage and community development. Locally she has provided fundraising expertise to Planned Parenthood of Western Washington, King County Library System Foundation, and Camp Fire USA. Committed to social justice and international development, she particularly enjoys the intersection of personal values and professional interests. JoAnn joined The Alford Group as a Consultant in 2006.

Mary Ann Goto has over 14 years of experience in the development area. She has been with the Wing Luke Asian Museum for five years and is currently their Development & Marketing Director. Prior to the Wing Luke, she has worked in development for Seattle Habitat for Humanity and a number of performing arts organizations like the Broadway Center for Performing Arts, the California Center for the Arts, and the San Diego Symphony. She is a member of the Asian Pacific Americans in Development. Mary Ann has an M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of San Diego and a B.A. in Sociology from Seattle University.

Mel is currently Campaign Director for Youth Eastside Services’ $10.7 million capital and service expansion campaign. He’s been involved in fundraising in the Puget Sound area for twenty-four years, twenty of them in senior development positions at NPR affiliate KPLU, Bellevue Art Museum and Jewish Family Service. Directing annual fund, capital and endowment campaigns, he has overseen the raising of over $50 million.

Sonya´s 22 years in development range from executive director at Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility to capital campaign consulting for hundreds of organizations throughout the country. She is currently vice president of The Collins Group, a consulting firm. Sonya is also a national speaker and trainer. She presented her speech, "Cutting-Edge Capital Campaigns: What the textbooks don't tell you," at the 2005 AFP International Conference.

Alicia started her work with non-profits in the marketing realm and was "thrown in" to development when she was asked to write a grant in 4 days (which was granted!). From there she found that she loved development and credits the Fundraising Management Program at UW for helping really launch her professional career. After seven years at CRISTA Camps in marketing and development, Alicia is now the Director of Donor Relations for the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma.

Laura is vice president in the Seattle office of The Alford Group, one of the nation´s top nonprofit consulting firms. Laura has 23 years of experience as a fundraising professional and consultant. Prior to joining Alford, Laura held leadership fundraising positions at MultiCare Health System, Mary Bridge Children´s Hospital and the University of Puget Sound. Laura is also a frequent speaker at local, regional and national conferences and is noted for her work on the "Culture of Philanthropy."

Scott Garrepy is the Development Director for International Programs at Washington State University. Scott is the former Director of Institutional Advancement for the Tony Award-winning INTIMAN Theatre, and his over 15 years of experience includes development positions at Seattle Opera and the Atlanta Ballet, as well as work as a consultant advising nonprofit and for-profit organizations on philanthropic partnerships. He is also on the Leadership Tomorrow Curriculum Committee and on the board the Greater Good Foundation.

Mary´s more than 25 years with YMCA of Greater Seattle began as childcare director. She went on to serve in a variety of positions including branch and district executive and vice president of financial development and communications. Jane began her development career with Girl Scouts in Richland, Washington in 1983. Subsequently she held the chief development position at Camp Fire USA in Seattle, became the director of branches and then joined United Way of King County as the Director of Eastside Operations. She stepped back into a fulltime development role in 1999, joining the United Way Community Campaigns team and last served as Associate Vice President for Campaign Operations. In 2007 Jane joined AtWork! in Issaquah as Chief Development Officer. AtWork! is a program that provides customized employment solutions for people with developmental disabilities. Her first term on the board of AFP Washington was in 2003 and she served as President of the chapter in 2006. Currently she is serving as Immediate Past President and Chair of the Nominating Committee.

Ashley joins the AFP Board of Directors with more than 15 years of experience as a Development Director for non-profit organizations – most recently spending the last ten years expanding the fundraising programs of ACT Theatre and Seattle Theatre Group (the historic Paramount and Moore Theatres). Prior to coming to Seattle, Ashley led development programs Central and West Texas including a seven county division of the March of Dimes and CENTERS for Children & Families. In early 2007, she founded her company, OrangeGerbera, Inc., and began consulting and contracting with several non-profit groups in the local area.

John Linder has been the Development Director at PONCHO since November 2005. John is originally from Ellensburg, WA, and received his BA in Political Science from the University of Washington. John earned a Masters in Public Administration from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. John started out his fundraising career at the Human Rights Campaign, managing corporate sponsorships. John then went onto the Alliance for Justice where he managed all of the Alliance’s foundation grants. John moved back to Seattle five years ago where he worked for the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County for 3 years. John serves on the Board of the UW Alumni Association and the Human Rights Campaign Board of Governors. John enjoys cooking and traveling, and considers himself a bit of both a Francophile as well as an Anglophile. John’s favorite color is green, as in the color of money!

Mark McCampbell is Campaign Director for Virginia Mason Foundation. Mark began his development career in Chicago in 1983 and spent 17 of his nearly 25 years in fund raising as a chief development officer. An active member of the Washington chapter since 1989, Mark served as President in 1996. Currently serving as Communications Chair for the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy Pacific Region, Mark's special interest is helping his colleagues in the profession seek and discover a life balance that will improve their dedication and service to the profession.

Anne Marie MacPherson has provided fund and market development expertise to local, national, and multinational nonprofit and for-profit organizations for more than sixteen years. She specializes in entrepreneurial endeavors and helped organizations with strategic positioning and extensive community outreach efforts in both the US and developing countries. Preceding joining The Collins Group, Ms. MacPherson served as the Vice President of Development for Unitus, served as the Vice President of Marketing and Development Seattle´s Goodwill, and as Director of Market Development for Goodwill in Milwaukee/Chicago. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Seattle University and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Sharon Mooers is the Development Director PNW Region for Olive Crest Homes & Services for Abused Children. She has worked in Development for the past 14 years. Since 2001 she has worked with Olive Crest in establishing and building a successful development program for Washington and Oregon. Prior to that she worked as a consultant for two years and worked for the American Heart Association for eight years in successive positions starting as NW Regional Director in Washington State, Executive Director Long Beach Chapter, and Deputy Executive Director of Orange County for the American Heart Association.

Simon is the director of major gifts for the Group Health Community Foundation. Prior to Group Health he worked as a development officer for INTIMAN Theatre and Seattle Symphony Orchestra. His for-profit experience includes positions with government affairs at AT&T and business development for technology companies. Lynn G. Schrader, CFRE, is Director of Major & Planned Gifts for the King County Library System Foundation and President & Principal Consultant of The Schrader Group, LLC. He has served as Assistant Dean for Development and External Relations for the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Affairs, Director of Major Gifts for the Seattle Community College District, and Director of Development for the Seattle Children’s Theatre.

Lynn is a past president of AFP – Washington Chapter, where he continues to serve on its board and chairs its Public Policy Committee and serves on its Mentoring Committee. He is a past co-chair of Washington’s National Philanthropy Day celebration and has served on its committee for 13 years. He serves on the AFP International Research Council and its Professional Advancement Division. In 2004 he served as Vice Chair of the AFP International Conference’s Seattle Host Committee. Lynn was the 2002 recipient of the Northwest Development Officers Association Professional Achievement Award, the highest recognition bestowed annually to a development professional in the Puget Sound region.
